Systanet has delivered a significant national railway consultative project on the use of technology in mainline trackside design processes.
Selected to bring its experience and independence to this important element of a national network’s drive for project efficiency, Systanet was commissioned to investigate all existing and upcoming technologies and their potential application to the role of signalling, telecomms and power engineering whilst trackside.
Systanet’s work comprised of:
- Examining existing trackside design roles and processes
- Documenting office-based design processes
- Exploring recent advances in technology, including for
- asset identification
- range finding & position location
- portable computing
- mobile communications
- integrated bio-technology
- The practical application of technology and the influences on process
- Cost benefit analysis
The results and the recommendations were presented in a full report and presentation to senior manager.
